Choreographic Encounters is a series of occasional journals published by the Institute for Choreography and Dance (icd). The book is available from major book distributors, specialist bookshops and directly from icd.
Mary Brady is currently working freelance as a dance specialist and as Director of a strategy for dance in Plymouth, UK. She has extensive experience of working in dance in a career that spans thirty years ( as choreographer, performer, writer, curator and policy maker).
She was founding artistic director of the Institute for Choreography and Dance in Cork, pioneering the organisation as a centre for choreographic research and performance practice. She is founding editor of Choreographic Encounters, and producer of two books on choreographic practice.She is a co–founder of the European Dancehouse Network (EDN) and of its inaugural programme IDEE (Initiatives in Dance through European Exchange. She was appointed, by government, to the Board of the Irish Arts Council (1998 – 2003). She was Chief Executive of the Dance Council of Ireland.
